Storyline

Believe it or not, but there are actually two seperate Sonic X-treme storylines floating around out there -- one is the widely known "Tiara Boobowski and The Rings of Order" storyline, and the otherone was collected from an old Chips & Bits magazine about "MIPs" and a giant Death Egg. However -- it is known, that after Sonic X-treme was canceled in Fall/Winter of '96, the project continued on, later, for the PC -- perhaps the "Mips" storyline was indeed the revised new storyline for this PC Sonic X-treme? In Anycase, this is the "Rings of Order" Storyline:

Professor Gazebo Boobowski and his lovely daughter, Tiara Boobowski are the guardians of Six Magical Rings of Order, as well as the ancient art of Ring smithing. Doctor Robotnik is up to his old tricks, but it's not Chaos Emeralds he has his eyes on -- this time it's the Rings of Order. Already having made one attempt at taking the Rings for his own, the Boobowski's call in the one and only Sonic the Hedgehog to lend them a hand in protecting the six Rings.

This storyline is widely accepted as the X-treme storyline 'cause, well, for one, I believe it was originally printed in Gameplayer's "Sonic's Red Shoe Diaries" article, along with some concept art of Ms. Boobowski. As I mentioned earlier, a second storyline turned up some time later, in one of the "Back of the Magazine Advertisements" for Chips & Bits, this is how it goes:

Evil Doctor Robotnik just won't give up! This time he's created a completely NEW Death Egg! But Robotnik's thinking big! His new Death Egg is SO BIG it's gravitational pull is drawing the five surrounding planets! Sonic's got friends on these planets, by the name of Mips! It's up to Sonic to rescue all his Mip-buddies before time runs out and all the planets collide in a massive explosion and are utterly destroyed!

Mips, eh? Stranger still, while I speculate this might've been for the later PC version of Sonic X-treme, Chips & Bits still listed it as Sega Saturn title. If any of you want to check out this Chips & Bits storyline for yourself, it's in issue #93 (January 1997) of Ultra Gameplayers.
